How To Dress Up Your Salad With Whole Grains
January 17, 2016
Turn your salad into a texture-rich dish by adding whole grains. These chewy additions will add some good vibrations that your body and your taste buds will love! Whole grains provide a rich, slightly nutty texture. Use bright, fresh lettuce or any green as your backdrop and then add your whole grains.
Besides the awesome taste, whole grains are a good source of fiber, they have essential minerals (zinc, iron and selenium), and they make you feel full longer.
Try a variety such as quinoa, barley, wheat-berry, or classic brown rice. Make an Aztec blend with 1/2 cup of wild rice and 1/2 cup of brown rice. Remember these grains take approximately 40-45 minutes to cook, so make a batch over the weekend and toss them in salads all week long.
Culinary Tip: Dress your grain + salad and allow to sit at room temperature for twenty minutes before eating. Enjoy!!
